Critical Thinking also involves the ability to ask about what is not in the box of facts presented to you. Danish LEGO sells blocks to build with, a box with a number of blocks in different sizes and colors AND and an instruction sheet with pictures and text on how to build the car or house pictured on the box. One of the best things I could do as a child, until I found the books, was my brothers left over carbon box of red, white and some yellow ones. No instructions no pictures, pure joy of building for the toy animals or some small dolls out of phantasy. The lucky children have parents with the good sense to buy second hand lego and duplo in huge boxes with out instructions and pictures of what you should build.
How about using that kind of playful thinking into the area of thinking critical. But isn’t that childish? No, it is expanding the area of where to look for more facts in the field of your current research. I claim that thinking without looking at the pre-printed instructions and blue-prints you can build towers right up as far as you can reach or you can build a landscape for you tractor and your favorite bear
Here it is the next phase of thinking of “what if?”. What if the unicorns and hippos got children? Offspring?
So here it is my play with my try-outs for understanding dimensions. Let us look at the Devanagari script letter Ga. Look at the picture at the video or above the text. There are three lines and a dot. Combined correctly it is a Ga. Not Ka or Kha or Gha. Ga.
If you take the axis up-down and turn the letter 90º from left to right. Let it collapse, you get a line. If your let line stand up and you let that line collapse, you get a dot. You can take all letters from the Devanagari script or any other alphabet or take any other geometrical figure. Eventually you get a two-dimensional figure, let it collapse to a line and then let that collapse to a dot.
Let us contemplate a bit. That Dot is what we experience in meditation, there is only That Which Is. I Am. Consciousness, I would say Pure Consciousness. The Field of All Possibilities. You can go the other way and de-collapse the dot to a line and then, what? You have with the level of active consciousness we have now, you have no way of knowing where to to go. From dot to line to Ga, Gha, Ka or Kha? Or some other geometrical figure.
Level 0 is the dot, the line is level 1, the Ga will be level 2, then comes the next level and next and next….. For now I will only contemplate on the levels beyond the flat drawing on a piece of paper, leather or palm leaf. How will that geometrical figure look like has collapsed into the Ga you see on the paper.
On the drawing I have attached to the video or the text on the website you can see my humble attempt draw what it could look like. And then I have my bright moments of letting the imagination run wild and make intricate structures of how that could look like.
It relates to how we have lost our ability to communicate without the written word. The spoken word has in a way collapsed too. Can you recite your constitution or poetry? Most people I know can barely sing more than the first few lines of their national anthem at football/soccer game. In books like “The Little House in the Woods Series” the school children can recite the American Constitution or memorize history. In the series “Anne of Green Gables” Anne more than once recites longer poetry and have an extra poem or two just in case. Can you do that? I cannot, not yet anyway. African tribes have or had story tellers that could tell the tribes story for hours and hours. 20 years ago all people could memorize telephone numbers, can you?
Then look at how much knowledge can be in the 3 dimensional Ga or even more in the 4th level. There must be so much more information. Why? Just compare the difference between the dot, the line and the letter Ga. The letter Ga on the paper, the 2 dimensional drawing, and the amount of possibilities for the 3rd dimensional Ga. And the 4th dimensional letter and the 5th dimensional and so on.
This line of thought has many implications for the development, and lack there of, memory capability and in general the whole brain. The Pure Intelligence working though the dimensions collapsing into the current levels of 3 dimensions or maybe only 2 dimensions. There is so much stored in the w-ritten, spoken and spelled language.
